For this photoshoot I wanted to capture the genre of animals and nature and achieve a sense of atmosphere with them. I mainly focused on getting close ups of my environment so that I could capture the subjects in detail and have them in focus. Furthermore, I wanted the mood for this photoshoot to be very ambient and dramatic.
I was pretty happy with these photos and how they turned out as I was able to take them all from my backyard and house, taking advantage of my surroundings to get photos that I felt fit under the category of animals and nature. To make sure I got the perfect shot I would take multiple pictures of the same subject at once, often in portrait mode, and then edit the ones I liked the most. A method I used to get close ups of the ducks was to go inside my house behind my glass sliding door that leads to outside and lure them closer to the door with bread. This way I was able to get close up pictures of them that match the aesthetic of the other ones instead of them running away as I got closer. While it was a struggle to decide which I liked best, I think the photoshoot was overall a success and felt that I was able to achieve my goal of getting good looking photos. Most the feedback I got were positive critiques about lightning, coloring, and quality which really helped me gain confidence in my photography and editing skills, motivating me to keep exploring and pushing my limits. When I think about the stuff I could do better on, I think it would be nice to go to different areas and see what other animals and parts of nature I could find and capture to get more variety and not have elements in the background that don't fit in with the subject. Other than that, I really enjoyed taking these photos and how everything seemingly came together as I chose the photos I would work on and then edited them to fit my goals. This photoshoot has opened my eyes to a new style I could use for my final magazine project as before I had planned on doing interior design and architecture; this has given me more options to what I could do for my final project and inspired me to try new things.
